As Manager of Digital Learning at the North Carolina Museum of Art, Camille Tewell oversees virtual field trips, K-12 VR initiatives, online courses for students, and digital assets on the museum’s educational website, NCMALearn. Camille received her Bachelor of Science in biology and Master of Arts in art history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she also completed Ph.D. coursework in art history. Camille began her career at the North Carolina Museum of Art in 2006, managing docent professional development. In 2011 she transitioned to Manager of Teacher Programs for The Big Picture Educator Enrichment Program at the NCMA, a project focused on helping PreK-16 teachers integrate art across the curriculum. In 2017 she began developing the museum’s first virtual field trip programs, moving into her current role in 2019. Camille regularly consults with museums on how to start digital learning programs and has presented at numerous conferences over the years on topics such as STEAM, concept-based art integration, visual literacy, virtual field trips, and engagement through art.
