At a history museum, things move at a glacial pace. My goal has been to stay awake! In the three years since I started, I've initiated my institution's Digital Archives, built a Digital Lab, generated the institution's brand, created advertising and developed marketing strategies, and initiated an Equity lens. Museum work has braided together all of my "past-lives": special collections library archivist; microfilm technician; graduate and PhD in integrated media and live digital platforms for music; 15 years of art gallery management; graphic design and advertising for print publications; and my work as a community educator and music program director. Expertise from different areas of all of these fields have found a meaningful place in the Museum halls as I develop new processes and identify areas for development at the institution.
I'm also a performer and producer with acclaimed recordings on the Cold Blue Music (L.A.) and STV/Unit record labels (Switzerland). I've been commissioned by the Long Beach Opera, Philadelphia Classical Symphony, the California E.A.R Unit, New Zealand's 175 East, and numerous international soloists, and continue to write chamber music under quarantine and look forward to imagining new ways to bring performances forward by capitalizing on our current disadvantages. I share my work studio with Petunia, my feline companion of 17 years who plays a mean game of cat soccer!
